Veterans Day is Sunday, November 11, 2007

Veterans Day is fast approaching, so I wanted to make you aware of some special happenings on Oahu in celebration of this treasured national holiday. According to
Wiki, "Veterans Day is an American holiday honoring military veterans. Both a federal holiday and a state holiday in all states, it is celebrated on the same day as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day in other parts of the world, falling on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.)"



62nd Annual Wahiawa Veterans Day Parade

S
ponsored by Wahiawa Lions Club, the 62nd Annual Wahiawa Veterans Day Parade will be held on Monday, November 12th, beginning at 10:00AM. The event is expected to have 45 marchers, 17 vehicles, & 5 bands.  It will start at Kaala Elementary at California Ave., cross Kam Hwy., and end at Wahiawa Regional Park.

1st Annual Veterans Appreciation Day



On Saturday, November 17, 2007, the Oahu Veterans Council will undertake its 1st Annual BBQ and Fund Raiser to support veterans' programs at their Oahu Veterans Center located in Foster Village.

Thank you to our current American soldiers and our veterans for keeping this great country free. I salute you!
