Do I Need a Rental Car in Oahu?
Want a tip for getting around the entire island of Oahu???
Oahu has a darn good bus system - so darn good in fact that "the bus" can take you to just about any location on the island! Does this mean you should ditch your rental car idea?? Lord no!
Because the bus system is SO very good, many people ask if it’s still necessary to to have a rental car on Oahu. In my opinion, the answer to that question is always... yes, undeniably yes, and absolutely yes!
If you want to experience the real beauty of Oahu you'll want to drive directly to your destination rather than waiting for a bus to eventually weave you there. Sure, you can get there on the bus eventually, but you can be almost anywhere within a matter of minutes with a rental car. So whether it's our glorious Lani Kai Beach or the white sand of Waimanalu on the east side of Honolulu, take a car and get there quickly!
Just remember that you must be at least 21 years old to rent a car in Hawaii.
